INSPIRATION

ARTIS gets its inspiration mainly from the old storytelling tradition that still exists in various countries. Through this storytelling tradition essential themes of a universal character are presented. The origin and age of these stories remain unknown.
Sure is that they mostly have a very visual character, stimulating the capacity of imagination. They form a vast cultural heritage that from old times on is regarded as suitable for all ages.
Homer sang about the destiny of his hero Ulysses, Celtic bards told about warriors and battles, the troubadours from Provence sang their melodies about knights and beautiful maidens, and still today, many elderly tell their children and grandchildren stories about ancient times. Telling tales is a natural way of passing on wisdom and life experience.
Often a story tells about an individual who has to solve a certain task for the benefit of all. In order to accomplish this he/she often has to make a long journey where he/she meets difficulties, trials and temptations – and also help. The journey itself, like life itself, is also a path of development, whose elements are intuitively recognizable for everyone.
These ancient stories are thus also telling about the journey of life in the 21st century! The most impressive stories often reveal human weakness and strength and the struggle between life and death.
This cultural heritage forms a never ending source of inspiration for ARTIS.
