THE FOLKTALES OF ARTIS

ARTIS wants to contribute to this ancient storytelling tradition by bringing an original performing concept, where the part of the storyteller is re-established again.
A storyteller tells the whole story to the audience. Musicians play live the especially composed soundtrack that express the different moods and situations. At the same time, the characters from the story appear on stage and make the actions, emotions, tensions, relations, etc. visible, without speaking a single word themselves.
This is a kind of 'mute-acting-theatre' which is developed to fit perfectly with the ancient folktales.
A colourful and vivid stage lighting combined with beautiful costumes enriches the total result.
A clear directing takes care of uniting the different elements and the interactions between all performers, creating a dynamic organism.
In this way a special relation is forged between the different arts: storytelling, music, mute-acting in costume, and lighting, as the story is 'unfolded' scene by scene in front of the audience.

Through the surprising diversity of the performance, everybody can enjoy it.
Through offering the same performance to children, youngsters, adults and elderly, generations are brought together.
A natural exchange takes place,
and this is our highest striving: to connect people instead of dividing them.
